Details

Polypropylene (PP) Macro Fiber, also known as PP Wave Form Fiber, is a high-performance synthetic reinforcement material engineered for cementitious composites. Crafted from 100% virgin high-strength polypropylene resin via melt spinning and precision forming, PP macro fiber features a unique wave-like structure that significantly enhances its bonding force with concrete matrices. As a reliable reinforcement solution in construction, PP macro fiber effectively improves concrete’s toughness, crack resistance, and durability, gradually becoming a mainstream alternative to traditional reinforcement materials.

What are the advantages and benefits of PP macro fiber?

-Cost-Effective vs. Traditional Materials: 40%-60% lower overall costs than steel fiber—saves on material, transportation (lightweight), and anti-corrosion maintenance expenses.

-Superior Bonding & Crack Control: Wave-like surface increases contact area with concrete; forms a 3D support network to inhibit shrinkage cracks and reduce crack width by 50%+.

-Easy Construction & Handling: Lightweight (density 0.91g/cm³) and non-abrasive—won’t scratch mixers or formwork; compatible with standard concrete equipment.

-Durable & Weather-Resistant: Strong acid/alkali resistance, zero water absorption, and stable performance in harsh environments (coastal, industrial, cold regions).

-Flexible Compatibility: Works seamlessly with steel bars, welded wire mesh, and other reinforcements to enhance overall structural performance.

-Environmentally Friendly: 100% recyclable, non-toxic, and no pollution during production or application—complies with global environmental standards.

What are the recommended dosage of PP macro fiber?

Dosage varies by concrete application and performance requirements, with a general range of 0.6kg-1.2kg per cubic meter of concrete:

-Concrete pavements & residential floors: 0.6-0.8kg/m³

-Industrial flooring & precast products: 0.9-1.0kg/m³

-Shotcrete & tunnel linings: 1.1-1.2kg/m³

-Note: For high-load structures, consult our technical team to adjust dosage.

How to mix PP macro fiber?

1.Add coarse/fine aggregates and PP Macro Fiber into the mixer first.

2.Dry mix for 1-2 minutes to fully disperse the fiber (avoid agglomeration).

3.Add cement, water, and admixtures, then wet mix for 2-3 minutes until uniform.

4.Key tip: For small mixers (≤500L), extend dry mixing time by 30 seconds to ensure dispersion.

What applications are PP macro fiber utilized for?

PP macro fiber is used in a variety of applications, including:

-Transportation infrastructure: Highway pavements, municipal roads, and bridge approach slabs (reduces shrinkage cracks)

-Building structures: Residential/commercial foundations, shear walls, and basement floors

-Industrial facilities: Factory workshops, warehouse floors, and loading docks (enhances wear resistance)

-Precast concrete: Concrete pipes, drainage channels, and precast wall panels

-Underground projects: Tunnel linings, subway stations, and retaining walls (improves anti-seepage performance)

-Special construction: Shotcrete for slope protection and mine shafts

How to store and handle PP macro fiber?

PP macro fiber should be stored properly to keep its performance. Please follow the instruction below?

-Store in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse with temperature 15-25℃ and relative humidity 40%-60% (optimal at 20℃/50%).

-Avoid direct sunlight, rain, high temperatures (≥50℃), and chemicals (acids/alkalis) to prevent fiber aging.

-Keep original packaging sealed after partial use. Shelf life is 24 months under proper storage conditions.

-Stack no more than 8 layers to prevent packaging deformation and fiber agglomeration.

FAQ

Question 1: What’s the recommended fiber length of PP macro fiber for different concrete?

A1: Basically, 6-12mm for thin-plate concrete; 15-30mm for ordinary floors; 30-60mm for shotcrete and thick concrete.

Question 2: Can PP Macro Fiber replace steel fiber completely?

A2: Yes, in non-heavy-load scenarios (floors, pavements). For high-load structures (bridge beams), use it with steel bars for better performance.

Question 3: How to check if PP macro fiber is well-dispersed in concrete?

A3: Observe the fresh concrete. No fiber clumps mean good dispersion. For hardened concrete, cut a sample and check the cross-section.

Question 4: Does PP macro fiber affect concrete’s compressive strength?

A4: No. PP macro fiber mainly improves toughness and crack resistance; concrete’s compressive strength remains unchanged or slightly increases.

Question 5: Is PP macro fiber suitable for cold regions with freeze-thaw cycles?

A5: Yes. PP macro fiber reduces cracks (water channels), improving freeze-thaw resistance. Increase dosage by 0.2kg/m³ in -10℃+ environments.

Question 6: Can PP macro fiber be used with concrete admixtures (e.g., superplasticizers)?

A6: Yes. It is fully compatible. No reaction with common admixtures; do a small-batch test for high-admixture dosages.
