PEEK SHEETS

PEEK Sheets (Polyether Ether Ketone Sheets) are high-performance thermoplastic sheets and composed of PEEK, a semi-crystalline engineering polymer with exceptional mechanical, thermal, and chemical qualities. PEEK sheets, which are produced by compression molding or extrusion, have remarkable strength, high heat resistance, chemical inertness, and outstanding wear resistance, making them the perfect material for demanding applications in a variety of industries, including the automotive, aerospace, medical, and industrial sectors.

PEEK sheets are among the most sought-after high-performance thermoplastic materials because they retain their exceptional performance and structural integrity in harsh conditions.

How many types of PEEK sheets are there?

1、 PEEK Sheets Filled with PTFE

Used in tribological (friction and wear) applications, like seals and sliding components; blended with PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) to enhance lubrication and wear resistance.

2、 PEEK sheets that are virgin (unfilled)

Made entirely of PEEK resin, without of any additives or fillers.

Outstanding mechanical, thermal, and chemical property balance.

Appropriate for general engineering, food, and medical applications.

3、 ESD-Safe and Conductive PEEK Sheets

Appropriate for the electronics, semiconductor, and aerospace sectors; formulated with carbon or other conductive fillers for electrical conductivity and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection.

4、 PEEK sheets filled with glass

Increases strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability with 30% glass fiber reinforcement.

Stronger and more resilient to deformation than virgin PEEK, but less flexible.

Frequently employed in load-bearing and structural applications.

5、 PEEK Sheets Filled with Carbon

Perfect for high-load, high-friction applications including bearings, bushings, and sliding components; reinforced with carbon fibers (usually 30%), offering increased stiffness, wear resistance, and decreased coefficient of friction.

How to store and handle PEEK sheets?

1. Packaging: To reduce moisture absorption, vacuum-seal or use desiccant packs.

2. Conditions: Keep in a dry, cool location (15–25°C) with less than 50% humidity.

3.  Stacking: To reduce warping, stack flat on pallets rather than vertically.

4. UV Protection: To stop surface deterioration, shield yourself from direct sunshine.

5. Shelf Life: Indefinite with no chemical deterioration if stored correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: What distinguishes PEEK from other types of plastic?

A: In comparison to common technical plastics like nylon, ABS, or polycarbonate, PEEK is more durable due to its better mechanical strength, excellent heat resistance, and outstanding chemical resistance.

Question 2: Is moisture absorbed by PEEK?

A: Minimal (0.1–0.5% for unfilled grades), but prior to high-precision machining, pre-dry at 150°C for three to four hours.

Question 3: Can PEEK sheets be used in place of metals?

A: Yes, in response. Because of their strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and machinability, PEEK sheets are frequently utilized as metal substitutes in industrial, automotive, and aerospace applications.

Question 4: What distinguishes filled PEEK from virgin PEEK?

A: While filled grades (glass, carbon, PTFE, etc.) improve particular qualities like strength, wear resistance, or conductivity, virgin PEEK has a balanced set of attributes.

Question 5: Is it possible to sterilize PEEK?

A: Indeed, PEEK is extremely resistant to sterilizing techniques such as ethylene oxide sterilization, gamma radiation, and autoclaving.

Question 6: What is the difference between PEEK and PTFE (Teflon)?

A: In response, PEEK has a reduced chemical resistance to strong acids but a stronger strength, wear resistance, and thermal resistance.
